Posts Tagged ‘JLT’

This tag is from Aquarian Lady. I need to list down my five memorable meals. So here they are…btw..there are umpteen memories when it comes to food..but rules are rules! 🙂

  • The first such meal which always pops up in my mind is the road side paranthas near Delhi University. This road side shop gets opened at 10 PM in night and shuts at 5 AM in the morning. And what amaze me is that it is always crowded even at 4 AM! No doubt that the vicinity is unhygienic and so are the paranthas. But those were the carefree days when we were in the university. I don’t miss this by any chance if I happen to be in Delhi.
  • I cannot cook. This is what I used to think till I made this rice and daal on a Saturday afternoon almost a year back. It was simply amazing! No..it was! I did take instructions from my mother over the phone. I cant forget this amazing lunch I made.
  • This dates back when we were together. She was really hungry and I only had eggs and cheese at my place. There I was, wearing the apron and all set to make cheese omelette for her. Of course there was a disclaimer that I am not responsible for any consequences! J Okay! I did make it really good, but there was something which was missing. What was it??! Then it just hit me…I had a packet of Frito Lays too. And there was the topping as well. When I served her this…do I need to say more!
  • This one does not comes under “good memories”..but I could never forget this experience. My first buffet in a five star hotel. It was free (read someone else was paying for it) and I was with a few girls (so impression does matter).  I confess I didn’t have the best culinary skills (not now as well) and all of the others were pro in it. What a lasting impression I made!!!
  • This memory always comes with a tinge of sadness for the usual reason .She can’t cook..she knew that..and she dint know anything about cooking. But she made Maggie for me….coz when I was about to meet her I dint have any meal and I dint want to eat outside nor order anything from outside. That was my best Maggie and til date she does not accept it.

Well…I am tagging:

Shilpa, Nishi, Shruti, Divsi, Neilima, UL, Bydegrees……………………………

Its been two weeks now in this beautiful country. The weather is erratic here with sometimes bright and sunny in the morning, sometimes raining, chilling windy and then hot again; even though it is getting colder day by day. The weekdays are real hectic with work on full swing and still struggling with host of paper-works pending to claim my legal status here.
Weekends have been helluva fun. It feels so great if you have cousins around in a new country. Weekend gateways with breath-taking experiences and sight-seeing have left me craving for more. I am wondering what about this weekend! Another sight-seeing?! Might be..lets see.

I have never witnessed anything as beautiful as the skyline of Manhattan in evening. We took a ferry ride from one of the island which transported us to Manhattan crossing the Hudson River. I was completely awed. Huge and mammoth buildings with twinkling lights and a brightly lit Brooklyn Bridge, the view was mind blowing. A thought did linger in my mind, how much better it would have been with the WTC standing tall and proud.

Hold on..this is not enough. The ferry took the path very close to the Statue of Liberty. And there it was, the symbol of the USA. Wow! Beautiful! No matter how much I try to do justice with words…it will not be enough to reflect what I saw.

Oh..hold on again! 😉 Then I went to the Wall Street. For me I hold a special place for Wall Street as my job requires me to make these banks our customers. Plus, I always wished and wonder if I would have been a banker at Wall Street.

The euphoria seems to got over when we had to rush back to catch the last ferry back to the island. But then I can never erase that Manhattan skyline picture ever from my mind.

On the other front..I am little settled in terms of accommodation. I have shifted to a paying guest with a Gujrati family. They seem to be a nice and friendly people. Lets see how it goes in near future. And they are providing me lunch and dinner as well during the weekdays. The first day itself, everyone has become a fan of paav-bhaaji made by Aunty.

BTW…there is a huge Diwali sale going on here. Anyone interested?!! 😉

And I promise..next time my post would be better rather than these vague updates here and there. 🙂

I asked one friend of mine “What are your thoughts on the concept of unisex salon?”
She responded that she is little uncomfortable.

Another female friend of mine just loves this concept.

Well, I am too much amused and fascinated with the concept of unisex salon! Imagine an incredibly beautiful girl with all wet hair sitting next to me getting a manicure done. Oh! She was actually sitting next to me. On the right side was a foreigner female going crazy with her new hair style.

The moment I looked at her, she smiled. Pat came the question “How does my new hair style look?” I grinned and my answer would have made her day. 🙂 Then I heard a girl asking too many questions and of course asking for discounts using the same stale statement – “I am your regular customer”. She was driving everyone nuts!

I was waiting for the hair-dresser to attend me. While he was arranging the equipments, I looked around the salon. The interiors were tastefully done with goddess look like model posters pasted creatively all around. The expensive cosmetic stuffs neatly arranged..plush sofa-set..stylo hair dressers! I really enjoyed the luxury, the ambience there.

I just went into my imagination. I and my gurl will come together. Before getting my hair cut, I will ask her – Do you want my hair to be short, honey? Or should I keep it medium?

Or rather it will be other way around, as females throw unlimited questions and would only like to hear the answers they want to hear! Whatever it would be, what fascinated me is the idea of going together, seating next to each other. Something which was not possible few years back when such unisex salon was a distant dream.

My day-dreaming was broken by the hair-dresser asking me whether to cut it short or keep it medium. I smiled. I smiled retiring with a last thought- if my gurl would want to have an expensive and luxury spa…I would then drop the idea of going together!!! 🙂

What are your thoughts on unisex salon? Are you little bit uncomfortable? Or your thoughts are similar as mine?

A quick post to share with you all a lovely example of what we can call as an “Attitude”.

After an international beer conference in London, all the world’s top brewery bosses decide to go out for a beer together.

The Chairman of Budweiser says, ‘I’d like the most refreshing beer in the world, ‘The King of Beers’: give me a Budweiser.’

The bartender takes a bottle from the shelf and opens it for him.

The Chairman of Guinness says, ‘I’d like the only beer in the world worth really, truly waiting for: give me a Guinness.’

The bartender serves him.

The Chairman of Carlsberg says, ‘ I would like the world’s best beer, drunk in more countries than any other: give me a Carlsberg.’

He gets it.

Vijay Mallya sits down, looks around and says, ‘Just give me a Coke.’

The bartender looks at him, shrugs, and serves him.

The other brewery bosses laugh loudly and say, ‘Hey Vijay, how come you aren’t drinking a Kingfisher?’

‘Listen,’ says Vijay Mallya, ‘If you guys aren’t drinking beer, neither will I.

Do we have this in us?! A question worth asking ourselves. Isn’t it?!

I dint say that. That came from my Mother! 🙂

Okay!  Mom & I are more of friends and we get into several healthy arguments on number of occasions. Few days back Mom gave her verdict – I should not have done MBA; rather I should have studied Law and resorted to court arguments!

Of course it was on a lighter note..and we laughed out loudly. Okay! During our several bouts of conversations half of the times I concede and rest of the times Mom wins! So you got the hint right..everytime she wins! 🙂  She is so very cute!

Few days back I finally won one bout of conversation! 🙂

Here it goes:

Mom: You have to go to a temple tomorrow

Me : Why?

Mom: Tomorrow is Nag Panchami

Me: Okay! So what I am supposed to do in the temple

Mom: Kuch nahin! Bas Shiv Ji ke darshan kar lena.

Me : I can offer a silent prayer to Shiv Ji from the home itself! Why do I have to go to a temple for this?

Mom: But you should go to a temple.

Me: Okay! I will go..not an issue. But give me one reason why should I visit a temple . I don’t think that God is biased towards people who go to the temples against those who remembers God but may not visit such temples.

Mom: You don’t even have anything related to God in your house…no photo..no murthi. How do you pray? Bhagwaan ko yaad karna chahiye!

Me: Yes. I do remember God..but I don’t need a photograph in my house for that. For that matter I don’t have anyone photograph in my flat. Does that mean I don’t remember or miss anyone?

Mom: Ufff!!!! You won! Why you did an MBA? You should have studied Law!

Me: Mom! You saying I won!! I cant’t believe this.

Okay! So here my treat for winning Mom…I will visit the temple tomorrow. But only tomorrow. 🙂

PS : I don’t believe in the concept of visiting temples to show our faith in God. Its my belief and I am not propogating anything as such.

PPS: I am not an atheist and I do believe in God.
