(Edited to add – I just realized the pictures are not in full view. May be I need to reduce the size…and I am too tired now to resize every pictures! 🙂  Will do it later.  Sorry folks! )

I have been thinking to write this post since the time I first visited NYC. I have been mesmerized by the sheer aura of this city…the hustle-bustle..the maddening crowd walking their way pushing each other…the traffic snarls..the mammoth building..the spirit of the people.

Whether it is day or night..this city never stops. In its truest sense, NYC is the city that never sleeps.  I was dashed when I saw the Manhattan..The Statue of Liberty..The Brooklyn Bridge…The Times Square…The Ground Zero..The Empire State Building. All these things I read about in books and only saw in movies.

I wanted to capture every places I saw..every emotions oozed out of people..the charisma of the vicinity. But it was just not possible to capture everything in pictures.

I am putting some random pictures which I just clicked out of whim.  I know these pictures are not that great…but this is all I have!

Its been two weeks now in this beautiful country. The weather is erratic here with sometimes bright and sunny in the morning, sometimes raining, chilling windy and then hot again; even though it is getting colder day by day. The weekdays are real hectic with work on full swing and still struggling with host of paper-works pending to claim my legal status here.
Weekends have been helluva fun. It feels so great if you have cousins around in a new country. Weekend gateways with breath-taking experiences and sight-seeing have left me craving for more. I am wondering what about this weekend! Another sight-seeing?! Might be..lets see.

I have never witnessed anything as beautiful as the skyline of Manhattan in evening. We took a ferry ride from one of the island which transported us to Manhattan crossing the Hudson River. I was completely awed. Huge and mammoth buildings with twinkling lights and a brightly lit Brooklyn Bridge, the view was mind blowing. A thought did linger in my mind, how much better it would have been with the WTC standing tall and proud.

Hold on..this is not enough. The ferry took the path very close to the Statue of Liberty. And there it was, the symbol of the USA. Wow! Beautiful! No matter how much I try to do justice with words…it will not be enough to reflect what I saw.

Oh..hold on again! 😉 Then I went to the Wall Street. For me I hold a special place for Wall Street as my job requires me to make these banks our customers. Plus, I always wished and wonder if I would have been a banker at Wall Street.

The euphoria seems to got over when we had to rush back to catch the last ferry back to the island. But then I can never erase that Manhattan skyline picture ever from my mind.

On the other front..I am little settled in terms of accommodation. I have shifted to a paying guest with a Gujrati family. They seem to be a nice and friendly people. Lets see how it goes in near future. And they are providing me lunch and dinner as well during the weekdays. The first day itself, everyone has become a fan of paav-bhaaji made by Aunty.

BTW…there is a huge Diwali sale going on here. Anyone interested?!! 😉

And I promise..next time my post would be better rather than these vague updates here and there. 🙂

So here I am..back again! Apology is definitely due for not responding to your beautiful comments on a timely basis and of course missing out on loads of your new posts. Meanwhile, I witnessed my blog is apparently dead as the hits went down to a single digit! However, I believe this would go for sometime more. I would be little infrequent for sometime, but of course I have a good reason behind that and you shall soon know. 🙂

I am back to the same mundane office after a two-week break. And believe me no matter how long is the break; I feel I need another break. J Such is life and so I am.

The entire trip was simply amazing. Delhi had been a blast. All the memories were back again…campus days..old friends..roadside paranthas at 2’0 clock in the morning..ravishing and incredibly beautiful females! Delhi is undoubtedly the best! The city is undergoing a lot of change and one would find a lot of construction happening around.

Then there was a small trip to Agra to meet my sister. Agra trip ended with loads of beer with my brother-in-law and an amazing fun time with family. Then I had a weeklong stay at my home town with parents. Chilling out, relaxing, and gobbling home-made food! The time spent with parents is always wonderful. This trip was little special as I gifted a bottle of Jack Daniels to Dad! Few years back I couldn’t even think of it. 🙂

Time passed and it was the time to land at Kolkata. The city is still the same in every way. Same traffic snarls, same taxis, same way of driving which literally kills people! But whatever may be the case, this city has its own charm. I love Kolkata for its variety of food. Some of my favourite eating places are in Kolkata. So I had to dine at Flurry’s, Bar-B-Q (Park Street) and Azad Hind Dhaba. Roadside chai served in kulhad (cup made of clay), daal-ka-vada, paav bhaaji…and the list is endless. Kolkata trip was special as I met another sister and a very close friend.

And then I landed back to Chennai. This time rather than flying I chose to travel by train from Kolkata. A long journey indeed but I was able to catch some good sleep and a quality time to read a book at my leisure.

This should not be missed. At one of the station named as Vijaywada, my bogey halted outside a public convenience. I noticed a very funny board which proudly boasted the price list for different activities. Here was the detail:

Urinal – 50 paise

Lavatory –  Rs. 1

Both –  Rs. 2

I was wondering why that “BOTH” was added!!! 🙂 Any answers?! 🙂

I asked one friend of mine “What are your thoughts on the concept of unisex salon?”
She responded that she is little uncomfortable.

Another female friend of mine just loves this concept.

Well, I am too much amused and fascinated with the concept of unisex salon! Imagine an incredibly beautiful girl with all wet hair sitting next to me getting a manicure done. Oh! She was actually sitting next to me. On the right side was a foreigner female going crazy with her new hair style.

The moment I looked at her, she smiled. Pat came the question “How does my new hair style look?” I grinned and my answer would have made her day. 🙂 Then I heard a girl asking too many questions and of course asking for discounts using the same stale statement – “I am your regular customer”. She was driving everyone nuts!

I was waiting for the hair-dresser to attend me. While he was arranging the equipments, I looked around the salon. The interiors were tastefully done with goddess look like model posters pasted creatively all around. The expensive cosmetic stuffs neatly arranged..plush sofa-set..stylo hair dressers! I really enjoyed the luxury, the ambience there.

I just went into my imagination. I and my gurl will come together. Before getting my hair cut, I will ask her – Do you want my hair to be short, honey? Or should I keep it medium?

Or rather it will be other way around, as females throw unlimited questions and would only like to hear the answers they want to hear! Whatever it would be, what fascinated me is the idea of going together, seating next to each other. Something which was not possible few years back when such unisex salon was a distant dream.

My day-dreaming was broken by the hair-dresser asking me whether to cut it short or keep it medium. I smiled. I smiled retiring with a last thought- if my gurl would want to have an expensive and luxury spa…I would then drop the idea of going together!!! 🙂

What are your thoughts on unisex salon? Are you little bit uncomfortable? Or your thoughts are similar as mine?

The last weekend was eventful. The weekend passed away swiftly (as usual!), but it was indeed a worthy weekend, not wasted by simply lazing off!

I worn a creative hat on Saturday and spent the entire day at a studio working on the audio-visual to be aired on our Organization’s Annual Day celebrations. This was my first experience where I was in a studio sitting in a closed room with ultra chic Mac desktop and few impressive recording stuffs. For last few weeks, we were brain-storming, working on ideas, suggestions, etc. Now was the time to execute everything into a 3 minutes AV. It was indeed an amazing experience. I would be posting the AV next week here, and would like you folks to throw your views..of course free of cost  🙂

Okay! To give you all an idea…we picked up the Vodafone Zoozoo ads…and merged the idea of a news bulletin where a news-reader would talk about our Organization’s performance and events of last year. An individual event is linked to one of the zoozoo ads. A lot of inputs from my side…of course I fought with my team-members who were against it though :).  A good idea is always a good idea and nevertheless needs to be incorporated. 🙂

We visited the most amazing and beautiful cafe I have ever been in my life. For those who are from Chennai, would have definitely heard of this place – Amethyst Cafe! If not, then you are doomed 🙂 Thats what my friends told me few days back when I was not aware of it 🙂

Okay! This is an offer for you guyz..if anyone who would be in Chennai, then we shall meet up at Amethyst Cafe. The bill would be on me..so don’t worry about that  🙂

Amethyst is a mammoth bungalow converted to a cafe with beautiful lights spread across the boundary of the bungalow. Quiet & peaceful, this place kicks a plethora of emotions. Yes! If you would like to propose a girl (and want her to say yes!!!!) , you found the place buddy!  🙂

The weekend also had designated time slots to catch the movies (I am a movie freak..dint I tell this before!)

Saturday Late Night – Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Sunday Early Morning – Harry Porter & The Half-Blood-Prince

Sunday Afternoon – The Hangover

What a weekend! I loved it!

Hello..its not finished yet. The best was saved till Sunday late evening. It rained..and it rained heavily. Not like “Cats & Dogs”..rather “Elephants & Horses” ! 🙂 Need I tell you more..I ran to the terrace. Not terrace, actually one floor above the terrace – on the top of the water tank connected with a rusty iron ladder. And I went into the titanic mode (without a gurl 😦 ) with my hands spread like wings and my face inched upwards letting the rain drops to fall directly on my face. Okay! I love rains! It just washes off any smug feelings I have and makes me cheerful.

Hot Onion Pakoras! Lip –smacking chicken kebabs! And Beer!

Two glasses down! Three down! 🙂

Bas Yaar! 😉
